I would probably say either tip to an umbrella or a walking cane

one other possibility is that it's a lid from an antique fountain pen

I found one just like it. Same size no design. Tip has no ware for it to be a cane.

I agree. Seems small for a cane tip, but jewelerguy may be on to something with fountain pen tip. Maybe someone will have an example
