I have a Vaquero, but I've been looking at a Tejon to use for the am and disc trigger. I have 4 coil, the stock, 12 x 10, 5.75 and the CS.
I'm wanting to get into the old home site hunting too. But I've read a lot about the Eldorado and Compadre being better in iron infested ground than both the Vaquero and the Tejon. All said, would the Tejon be a good compliment to the Vaquero or vice versa.

I talked to a Tesoro dealer for about an hour on the phone and he said he prefers the vaquero over the tejon just because it is more stable but he also said that the tejon would get about an inch more depth . I set my my V just between nickles and iron and don't pull many nails but it will pickup pretty much everything else. I want a tejon also but it will be a while.

mag,

Myself ,I have a problem with the pushbutton on the Vaquero. I have always been fussy about getting dirt all over my detector. The trigger on the Tejon solves that problem for me. Because the Tejon also has the dual discrimination controls you can handle iron/discrimination much better then the Vaquero that has one control. All you need to do is turn the sensitivity down on the Tejon and it will smooth out if it's acting up. I pretty much always recommend the Tejon unless the customer needs the Freq. shift that the Vaquero has. Hope I have helped.
