I have owned a lot of detectors and have had a couple of garretts too. I have had the ace 250 a few years back and now the GTA 500 ultra wich is the older gtax 550 as you all know. If any of you have used one like the 500 or 550 and now own a 1350, how would you compare the 1350 to the 500 or 550? Is the target size image worth getting the 1350? I have been looking at this machine for several years and am considering getting one maybe. Any opinions are welcome, Thanks Tim

I had a gtp 1350 and it had the target sizing light up screen and so forth. But i like the Ace 250 better. The Ace is like a gtp 1350 without the xtra weight and battery use. And yull find just as much good stuff with the Ace if not more. Depth wise pretty close.

Well if there is not that much difference between the 1350 and the ace I am not going to get one. I cannot see paying more than 500 bucks for something that is not worth it. I had the ace and I found some good keepers but I sold it. I think the ace 250 is nice unit all right but to me it was not exactly what I was loooking for.

I guess you'll have to do like I am doing, visiting each of the manufacturers sites and read away. There are some pretty interesting posts and helpful people.

Well, that profiling works pretty good. If you are into getting as many coinsized targets as possible, the GTP or GTI series are good machines to use, as you can save a lot of time leaving junk in the ground, while concentrating on the better targets. Below are my results from using the GTP 1350 for a whole year. The results speak for themselves.

I still would consider the 1350 especially with the capability to see the size of the target before you dig. I kind of like the idea of the belltone too. I got the catalog from garrett the other day have looked at it again. I also know that a detector is only as good as the user too. My main concern is depth.........I see that trackerman says his was about the same depth as the ace. It seems I never found any coins beyond 6 inches with my ace 250 and target ID did not seem to be all that great around that depth also. Here is my concern......Is target ID better at 6 inches and deeper with the 1350 than the ace 250 is? I coinshoot alot also but is the 1350 a good relic machine for civil war stuff?
