We've had this...and just got around to really looking at it. Do you guys think it's been worked? It looks like it....also looks like a LARGE arrowhead...not one of course.:laughing7: We've found "slabs" of this rock on our property, but none in the area...like it was brought in and used for maybe...flooring? Like you'd use for a patio or something.:icon_scratch: Since no ones lived on our property before us, was thinking NA used it for something. For size, that's the toe of my water boot in the first picture. First 2 pic's are front & back. The rock is flat more or less and heavy.

It looks "worked" all the way around it, the other slabs don't look the same on the edges.

...also found a little heart breaker arrowhead.

Not sure of the type of stone, my guess is it is some type of volcanic ash sediment stone. It does look like someone knocked the edge off of it. It as been found that some NA had stone floors in their huts. Cool find I would love to see if it would work for knapping ,but if it did you would already have found points and tools made of it. Nice find keep your eye's out for more in one spot ,it may be a house site.

Looks like a big flake......giant size

It looks like a large chopper/scraper. If you have some yucca plants in your area, it's possible that they may have used it also in scraping the yucca to get the fiberous thread.

monsterrack.... thank you for the info that it may be a "volcanic" type rock, we do have LOTS of that here. But have never found a source for this "flat" kind. Don't know about "knapping" it, haven't found any arrowheads or tools made out of it, real hard rock. The only things we found are the large & flat, they were found a few inches under the dirt, so maybe was a house?

rock....:laughing7:..yeah it does!

old digger....Do have yucca here and it does look like a giant scrapper...but can hardly lift it, so big & heavy. Maybe you "guys" could though. lol

....thanks everyone! :)
