Cleaning coins has been done to death but this is my opinion. MS 70 is good if used in the context of your post. It will/can cause a original surface copper coin to turn blue. Sometimes dramatically. I am speaking specifically of IH and Lincoln cents up to 1982. If the intent is to make the coin display more to your liking then go right ahead and use it. The same for Dellars Darkener.

If you are talking cleaning dug coins, I use a 50-50 water vinegar mix. However 83 and newer coins will have holes ate in them from the mix. Vinegar is acid to zinc. I soak them over night then just wipe em off. 100% vinegar will pit pure copper.

If it isn't worth anything I throw them into a rock tumbler and keep checking on them. Use pebbles and results are great.
