What did Whites replace the M6 with?

I would guess the MX5 but I would get the MXT if I was going to buy new over the MX5, but buying a good used one would be even better or a used MXT over a used M6 for me. The M6 is a nice detector as well though and White's still works on their older detectors if needed and usually don't charge too bad. HH

I also have an M6. The M6 isn't completely gone ... yet. (posted on 2/14/2017 in Whites Electronics forum by spokesman) "White's is continuing to build the M6 by special order, so long as demand remains reasonable. However, no advertising."

Someone on another forum claimed the MX5 is in the same 'being discontinued' category but its still shown on the White's website.

The Whites website shows they are bundling some nice items with their detectors, here is the current lineup and MSRP starting at the bottom:

CoinMaster $230
TreasureMaster $300 (comes with PinPointer)
TreasureMaster Pro $450 (come with PinPointer)
MX5 $600
MXSport $850 (detector only $800)
MXTAllPro $900
GMT $900
Surfmaster PI $900
TDI SL $1200
VX3 $1200
V3i $1500
V3i wireless $1800

I think the M6 MSRP was $700, so the nearest replacementare is the MX5.
If they discontinue the MX5 they will have a significant gap in their line unless it is replaced by something new.

Compared to the competition, White's pricing structure looks expensive.

If you buy from a dealer you might get a good amount off that price though or buy used especially if you could find one close and check it out real good first. There are lots of people that buy a brand new one and use it only a few times and dig all trash not knowing they need to know what it's telling them, then it sets in the corner till they get around to selling it. HH

Thanks for the replies. I just cant see why they would discontinue the M6. Its a perfect coin/jewelry detector. I also have an MXT (the original one) as a backup but cannot stand the threshold noise.
I am not looking to purchase a new detector.
Thanks again.

Actually White's discontinued the M6 (which can still be special ordered) *and* the MX5.

Discontinued models

It's funny to me that you said this. Mostly cause I have an M6 and wanted the extra tones/back light (which I have rarely used) with the MXT Pro. So, I bought the MXT Pro years ago thinking the M6 would be backup/loaner. I usually end up using the M6 cause I have such good luck with it.

Thanks for the replies, I see the M6 is back on the whites website. :)

That threshold is what gives you a little more depth over the M6, you can always run the MXT without the threshold tone but your not going to get its best depth. HH

MX7 is replacement for M6 & MX5. Seems to be a slow seller. Seen a couple for sale used by people who were vague about what they didn't like. MX7 comes with 9.5" concentric coil & is water-resistant. MX Sport waterproof 10" DD coil.

I had an m6 several years ago and was best detector I have ever owned. I quit detecting for few years just didnt have time but i just bought another m6 and cant wait for it to get here!

I love my M6. It's my dry sand detector. Just replaced the pin pointer toggle again. That's the only problem I've ever had with mine.
