what did this belong to is it a claw

I founded claw or what I believe to be a claw on the Carmel Beach California United States I would like to know what it belonged to is it old or new thanks in advance

Definitely a tooth. Fossilized, whale of some type I would think. With the enamel on the tip only I would think maybe a basilosauridae family. But then I just looked that up, so take it with a grain of salt.
