What detector are you using?

White's Spectrum XLT

Likes-
Great target and tone ID. VDI readout and something like 281 different tones.
Excellent discrimination and separation of trash.
Very good depth on the stock coil.
Excellent balance
Light weight
Sensitive
Programmable. more user options than you can shake a stick at.
Factory presets can be adjusted to suit the user.
2 pinpoint modes, ratchet and VCO.
Pinpoint trigger.
Very well built.

dislikes

Battery compartment clips
Could use a bigger DD coil than a 4"x 6"
Sucks on the beach.
Not a DFX.

Bobbie: shadow x2
David: Shadow x2
Back up: shadow x2, fisher cz7a
Likes: very light, durable, very sensitive to small gold, fast response

Dislike: they quit making

1- Whites xlt
2- Whites Spectrum
Likes- everything- even on the beach with the right program
Dislikes- None
3- Fisher 1280-x- Haven't tried it yet, it's brand new.

Fisher 1236X2

LIKES: Light easy to use
? ? ? ? ? Hipmountable makes even lighter
? ? ? ? ? Iron Null
? ? ? ? ? Frequency shift: No interference from most other detectors esp. brass welding rods ;)
? ? ? ? ? Great depth and has silencer to stop ground chatter and powerline interference
? ? ? ? ?
DISLIKES:Have been running it and it's daddy 1235X for 5 yr. So I guess there's no dislikes so far.

Fisher CZ70 pro

False signals a lot of digging but it will find deep targets great.

Dislike . It keeps finding them darn brass welding rods that someone keeps tossing out ;D
Must carry monkey foot in hat to discriminate brass rods. ::)

I got a Bounty Hunter Sharp Shooter II for Christmas. I haven't had a chance to use it yet, so I have no likes or dislikes. :-\

Whites Eagle, Whites dfx, Minelab Musketeer and Minelab Explorer II on the way. Likes; All have great depth. All are accurate. All are dependable and fun to use. Dislikes; The high price of the whites dfx and minelab explorerII.

List your make/model and how well you like it, and what you don't like about it! I'll add mine a little later.

TR/CIA resistance meter
Bartington GRAD-601
SYSCAL KID SW24
Deeper 8

Fisher Gold Bug 2,dislike????can't use it enough. Tesoro Lobo Super Traq, nothing to dislike at all.Tesoro Golden Sabre, over 20 years old and outlasted 2 wives,it's been far more faithful too!!!!!!Tons a au 2 u 2-John ;D

Lets see here, I have the following

1. Whites DFX
great beach hunting mode. Purrs like a kitten
many accessories to choose from
But
its hard to fine tune in coin mode
2. Whites MXT
love the prospecting mode
great back up to the DFX because the accessories are interchangable
But
It doesn't have the back light like the DFX
Like the DFX its a little harder to fine tune the threshold in coin mode, But the relic mode purrs
like a kitten
3. Whites Surfmaster II
its totally submerible and thats all I have to say
Plus it comes standard with the mighty 950 coil from whites
But
theres no readout display, only grunts, chirps, and beeps
no depth indicator, but no other submerisbles dont have that either.

Garret ace 250-

likes-easy to use, easy to understand, lightweight

dislikes-I haven't been able to use it outside due to all this friggin snow.

I am hoping for the snow to melt enough to get in some detecting this weekend or next week.

Okay, here's my current list. Many have come before, and I've used a lot over 20+ yrs of detecting but, these are what I own, and use as of now.

Mine are all junk

DFX- Just got the machine but I like the idea of having both pre- programmed and a multitude of controls to tweak. Allows one to jump right in while also allowing one to refine the machine to their liking and style as they become more familiar with it. Not so much a steep learning curve to use, as it is one to master.

Couple of brass welding rods, light easy to handle. DISLIKES: thrown off by underground streams.
;D

Whites Classic II
Good - easy to use and pinpoint
Bad - no depth reading, no screen, only 8" loop

DFX
Good - easy to swing for long periods of time, as easy to use as you want it to be, great depth and consistantly accurate depth readings.
Bad - price, but you get what you pay for and I have no buyers remorse.

So you finally found one cheaper than a BH :D :P
And you can't beat 'em for depth! HAHA
