Hello all,
Thank you for viewing this thread. Found today a thing which seems to be lead.
2" in diameter
3/4" in depth
has 5 threads
has 8 nodes along edge.
Found along an abandon road which could date in to the middle 1800s.
Looks like a Sabot, but need expert opinion. corkscrew1.webpcorkscrew2.webp
 

I'd have to guess that it's a threaded plug from the days of using lead pipe.

looks like old brass to me. given it's size in your hand, I believe it's an old radiator cap

That makes sense with the threads on the outside surface.
