German or Austrian "iron cross". Was used mostly in WWII.

It may be part of a fraternal order badge, pin, or fob. Many are made in the Cross Pattee or Maltese Cross shape. Note the attachment point at the center, where the emblem would have been affixed.

If it has a target on the front and attachment points (holes) on the bottom, it sure looks like a Army Marksman badge....

Thanks so much for the ideas!!! I love our hobby. I have been surfing the web, but I haven't seen anything exactly like it. I need to go back in all metal mode and see if I can find the center.....then I'd know for sure.

Hey PBK- is the pic you have one of your finds? What year? Any ideas on web sites I could check?

The Iron Cross, as in the German military medal, is the Cross Pateè (The Maltese Cross has split arms and is different). It goes back to 1813 as a military medal, and was a heraldic feature way before that. WWI versions have a crown on the upper arm, a "W" in the center, and "1914" on the lower arm, WW2 versions have a swastika in the center.

Doesn't appear to be WW2 U.S. Sharpshooter pin, either. But closer.

I gotta go with PBK and some kind of Masonic badge or similar.
