my friend picked this up and then threw it back about 15 years ago
a few days later I ran across it, looked at it and then dropped it back on the ground
I kept seeing this thing every year for several years and finally brought back and put it in one of myjunk boxes & kinda forgot about it
maybe somebody could tell me if it is anything
if not, I think I will throw it back

We call those BCT's, or Big Choppy Things. We always thought they may have been used to smash open bones so they could get to the marrow.

hey thanks srv, that does make sense
especially when I think about how darn many buffalo (bones) they had

I have an artifact similar to that, but it has a flattened bottom side. I think what you have was a quickie made in the field for the task at hand, then tossed away. It wouldn't take 10 minutes to make.

hey thanks you guys, it looks like whether we call it a BCT,chopper, hand axe, abfh,or a quickie made on site, I think you guys nailed it,
for which I thank you all
would it be good Karma for this plow boy to put it back?
sincerely, Larson1951

I would not..unless ofcourse you miss seeing it there..lol..The way I see it,every artifact that I find has been sitting there for thousands of years.I am the first person to hold it since then.(unless your friend finds it first and tosses it back...har)So I say keep it(or give give it back to said friend)

Nice tool. I would not put it back you might hit it with the plow. I can't wait till you get back in your field this spring. I bet you set those disc deep this year and cut as close as you can to the edges. It wont be long hang in there.

Put it back or keep it Larson. The old folks don't care, but don't you think they would find it amazing they're still being remembered hundreds of years later on this world wide spider web?
