Found this today, at the site where I've found an 1802 and 1824 large cent and 1787 Connecticut copper so I'm thinking this is of a similar age.
It's a large, copper (I think it's copper, not sure) disk with a corroded back. On the back looks like it was designed to be slid over either a leather belt or a wood slat, or a metal strut or something...
I'm thinking it's decorative in nature perhaps, but I'm hoping someone will take one look and know exactly what it is, so I won't have to wonder any more.
