✅ SOLVED What could this be? Bulky futuristic bulb?

Hi all,

Found this at an estate sale and bought it because I had no clue what it could possibly be, and I'm dying to know.

11 inches tall...almost 5 pounds. Futuristic-themed bulb of some sort? Something else entirely? I don't see anything inside.

The mesh around the glass appears to be for safety. In case of explosion. Maybe?

Part of a fuel filter, probably off of large old tractor or other old heavy equipment. That's my guess anyways.
