This object is probably brass, but feels as heavy as lead. It has a square hole running through the mid line long axis and a round hole penetrating that axis perpendicular which looks like it held a set screw. Total length 3/4" and the flattened end is 5/8" in width. The square hole is 1/4" wide and the possible screw hole is 3/16" wide. Sorry for all the measurements. Thanks for looking at this. I think perhaps part of a broken doorknob, with the threaded hole being where the set screw goes to fasten it. The chunk flattened up against the side could have peeled off of the knob part and then got squished to where it is now.
