What Could It be?

I found this item on a levee next to the mississippi river. It is copper or brass. It's about the size of a large egg. I see my pics are blurry, sorry. It is next to an Eisenhower dollar to show its relative size. It's hallow. Its also a hexagon shape with a dome shaped top. Looks sort of like a nut cover?
