Welcome Aboard. That is kind of a tough question to answer as it depends on your area. In my area for instance I hunt Halves and Nickels, Dimes are horrible in my area and really not worth messing with unless you hunt them in quanity. You almost have to hunt Halves as they will be your money maker but get ready (You will be skunked numerous times). With that being said my personal favorite is nickels, they always give up something where as with dimes and halves you may not get anything in several boxes. Just my opinion, Good Luck with whatever denomination you choose. Whatever you do don't get frustrated if things aren't going your way, if you are persistent you will find that poor mans gold (Silver). Dennis.

Thank you very much, it has A LOT of info. What did you start with and what was your first CRH find?

My first hunt produced 33 40% silver halves and 1 1964 Kennedy half. They came out of $410 CWR. Now it will not always be like that. There has def. been more skunks than great scores.

Search Halves and dimes. Quarters are basically extinct, you will occasionally see people scoring them but for most coin hunters they seemingly almost pointless to search. Nickels don't really yield enough value for the time spent searching them in my opinion.

Agreed, only search nickels if you appreciate coin sets, collecting them all type of thing. And quarters will rarely produce silver.. very very rarely. Halves give the biggest yet most unfrequent scores (next to quarters) but worth it because of the higher weight silver per coin. And dimes produce the most consistantly but give lesser 'jackpots.'

Thank you for that, what about bullion, should I collect bullion coins like the maple leaf also?
