What can be expected on the issues regarding the flaws on the Vortex.

Hello folks: As you may already know of my interest on the purchase of two Vortex VX9 on hold. One for me and another for my treasure hunting pal I talk to him today over the phone to inform him about the inconveniences and the 11 or so flaws Calabash and a few others have discovered on this new unit. Not wanting that my buddy gets heartbroken over these issues I inform him that Garrett is well aware of them and will come thru with a computer update repair for these. Can any tell me about these? Is it safe to buy at least mine right now? My aunt says to await for Calabash to give green light on these issues. Personally I don't like the fact I can't operate on beach and not block those darn bottle caps my buddy and I will be using them exclusively at the beaches. It certainly will be backbreaking these worthless pieces of trash. I personally don't mind the aluminum pull tabs because I hoard them and sell them when I sell my aluminum cans at the recycling center. And to be forced to use only a land based program on this unit to block this trash item is not well received by me. Then why the heck do I have a beach program on this unit if I will suffer? I personally don't think this is fair. I will be joining Friendly forum to get additional aid on these issues any help coming from both sides will be graciously appreciated my pal and I. To get this straight in my head.
Your Aunt said wait till all the bugs are straightened out-is that correct?

Just because you have a certain program on a machine doesn't mean it will preform to those given standards.


Now you don't like digging junk (bottle caps) because it will make you suffer.
Yet you don't mind digging aluminum pull tabs because you hoard them.

Now let's play a numbers game to see where you make more money.
Pesky bottle caps or tabs.


A ton of aluminum tab are $990.00
A ton of bottle caps are $200.00

It takes 1400 tabs (todays standard) to make a pound.
Old standard was 384 tabs (pre 2003)

It takes 208 bottle caps to make a pound

(Note the above aluminum weight is for a screw cap)


So you save 1400 tabs and you net 45 cents
So you save 1400 caps and you net out 61.167 cents

34 beverage (UBC) cans nets a person 43 cents.

So cap vs tab you are throwing more money away than you are saving actually.
I bet a lot of folks didn't that coming.

Ah the heck with it I am going for it! I ain't called a warrior prince for nothing... I like a tough challenge witch I can defeat. I have not been 41 years at this hobby for nothing. Besides after having 10 detectors in my possession Coin-master 5000 series 2, MX Sport, Beach hunter ID, APEX, (2) AT Max, Spectra V3i, GTI2500, Sea Hunter and my most recent Manticore and now this one. My aunt infers to Calabash she does not know him but yes wants me to hold out until the bugs will clear. Non the less I will be brave and go for it and study carefully the bottle cap synchronization I be leave I can brake the code! It is hard to have the language of 11 machines in your head.
