What button is this?

First button I ever found. It was found at a home site that has not been lived in since the late 40's early 50's.
There is not even a road back to this place deep in the woods.
I am assuming it's off of an army coat maybe from WWII. A little bigger diameter that a quarter. :help:

It's a US Army "Great Seal" button. It was first adopted & issued in 1902. The design in still in use on US Army buttons today. Your button's heavily rusted iron back means its backmark has been obliterated, and that means there's no way to time-date your button.
