Hello Forum,

I found these two Iron objects near an old cobblestone house. Can anyone help me to identify them?

The picture on the right is the bottom view. Thanks for looking!

the round thing with the lugs looks like an old garden hose fitting?

A bit for a horse is one item. It is broken where it curved to make a U shape that pressed on tongue when turned.
A possible bearing is the other. A softer than metal insert inside ,and a hanger to allow the whole thing to pivot, but only a guess.
A Farmall cub tractor has a kinda similar but larger clutch bearing.

Thanks for the ideas. I wish I could find a similar image like the one I have. I thought it might be horse related. Maybe I can go back and find the other half.

The style of shape is a "correction" mouth piece. The side piece is called a shank. The shank acts like a lever.
Multiple other bit styles exist.

So what do you think about it's approximate age? I saw some horse bits that are similar but different that date to 1860's
