Note: I only give this to look up info on, I may be off or wrong on some of these.

Some of the symbols like the bird is likely a thunderbird, the lizard is land or desert, and the flute player is I think just the guy playing a flute or the traveler. The creature on the left upper chunk is a god. The sun is likely just that and I don't know the others. Do you have any idea of age? I ask because the flute player is almost an exact replica of a flute player you can look up, so is the lizard. We have replica stones like this or iron pieces that the native american tribes sell here which is once again why I ask.

I think the God figure on the first pic of the Native American item is a Navajo Yeii Spirit, and yes, you do have the thunderbird and a sun figure. The "lizard" sure looks like a lizard, but probably represents a snake. I think, though am not 100% on this, the Navajo only used Horned lizards in their motif's, but there are many experts out there, and I am not one of them.

So you have:

Navajo Yeii spirit (probably)
Thunderbird
Snake

Kokopelli
Sun
Bison (I think, it's a little hard to see)

Definitely Southwestern Native American in origination, probably Navajo.

As to what it was for, and if it an original, repro, or whatever, that is for better minds than I.

Good luck.

I just noticed something, is it hanging off of something? Leather cord attached to what looks like an item with a medicine bag and beadwork?

Hi Rush,

Can you give the whereabouts or how you found it? That would tell a lot :icon_thumleft: I agree with others, it does look silver. The holes in the "silver" look drilled to me though, not carved from what I can see. Can you clarify that? Thanks.

First item is a letter opener. Is it about 8 inches long? Blade is 4 inches? I have one just like it.

I think the indian item is called a "concho"? It was likely part of a decorative belt held together with rawhide and would have been worn for ceremonial dress by a squaw. Or not? Monty

Almost mine is 9" long 5 1/2" blade has a serrated tip
2'' rest of the blade is way sharp ! maybe a fillet knife?
but its not very thin, and has etched upsidedown triangles
down the blade .

I put the leather on it so I could hang it up . And
yes it is a buff with I think lightning bolts inside him!
My brother found it while fishing in a river in UT.
and he gave it to me .The medicine bag is mine ,my old Indian lady friend made it for me and I think his name was Threefingers or
ThreeFeathers but one of them blessed it for me !
