I first thought these might be pieces of some type of pliers that had broke off but I have found 15 or so of the same thing. If that is what they are then someone was h*ll on their tools. I found them around a cellar hole. The golf ball was also found in the woods but it's in the picture for size comparison. If any one can help ID this little things please let me know.

Thanks,
Ed

Those are replacable saw teeth from a circular saw. I bet they were found at a site where a (maybe portable?) sawmill was set up at one time. When teeth were damaged the sawyer would remove them and put in a new one. Those type of teeth are still in use today.

Thanks for the comment. It gives me a direction to go but so far I have not been able to find any replaceable saw teeth that look like or resemble these things. I would like to find some and maybe it might help me to better identify the time period of the place I'm hunting and what the area was actually used for. The only visible sign of the area being used is a cellar hole. According to a article in the latest LT magazine, some of the nails I have been finding are from the mid and late 1800s but I have also found more modern nails in the same area. The shotgun headstamps I've been finding are from late 1800s and early 1900s. Maybe I'll start finding some coins but I would like to know more about these things here. If you come across some info on these particular teeth, please let me know.
Thanks and Happy Hunting,
Ed

:) :) :) Thanks again Junkdigger ;D ;D ;D I just found a picture that looks exactly like what I have found. I don't know if it will help to date the site but I know for sure that there was a sawmill there at one time.

The web page said this was a picture of the replaceable tooth and shank. My question is which part is the tooth and which is the shank?
Thank You Again.

Thanks for the input. I found a small cache of them today under a root beside a big tree. I got 21 out of one hole. They are starting to get on my nerves as bad as the nails do but at least I know what they are now.
