Wassup fellas I keep finding this little dish type plates. Silver plated I’ve been hitting same farm for about a year My buddies and I have pulled lots of seated coins, half cents, barbers etc lots of goodies! But we keep finding this disc plates we’ve probably dug 100 of them combined over past year. The one says childs on it. I feel like they are small plates but why so many of them scattered around the field and why so small? Any ideas would be great! The larger ones are 3.25” the smaller ones are 2.34”

Thanks for any help

I believe that’s a mason jar lid insert. Sometimes you would see them in three pieces, circular part that screws on to the mason jar, the disc you found and a porcelain insert that would go below that disc.

I think Locke might have it right. The sizes are fairly close except for the small one. You say 2.34 ", but isn't the picture showing larger than 2.5" ? Is it possible the smaller ones might be closer to the standard 2.75" ?

The larger ones are 3.25” the smaller ones are 2.34”

Regular Mouth 2.75 in ... 2.34" ?
Wide Mouth ... 3.38 in ... 3.25"

I agree with Locke and Plug N Play.
I think you are reading your calipers wrong, you should use the mark just to the left of the word "out" for an outside measurement and use the mark just to left of the "in" for the inside measurement.

Two questions .. are they silver or is the silver tinning? Also, can you post a close up photo of the one that says vChilds?
