003.JPG Putzing around the yard with my metal detector today I found a UMC CO No 12 New Club shotgun shell head (circa 1895-1902) and two other items. The riveted buckle or clasp on the left and the pin or button, of which I have found several of, on the right. If anyone can identify what either may be would certainly appreciate it. Curiosity gets me even with the simplest of things.

Thanks Ant for the ID on the right. That explains why I have found several of those. Any idea how long they have been making them? And are they used for old aluminum roofing (1800-1900s) as well as wooden and asphalt shingles? I have found them by my old civil war era barn.

More on tin, sheetmetal and copper roughing and siding. From my findings they
were more in use from 1920's-1950's.

I agree with NOLA Ken. They have been posted here many times and researched and the consensus was for asbestos shingles..

Not only are they not pointed, but I believe they are all bent the same way. Search here in the old What Is It TN archives you will find it along with any answers to your questions.

On the other item, the 2 rivets went into a leather strap. I thinks is a hasp but I forget the proper name for the bag.

Thanks Bigcypresshunter and Nola_Ken. They are copper and not pointed. My house and many more here in town are sided with asbestos shingles. There are also many with tiled roofs. I was also thinking something along the line of hasp or clasp on the 1st item. Thanks again to all.
