Found this metal detecting next to a tree metal detecting in a site of an 1920s army air field base. Practice training base. And base too. Is it related to the site where I dug it? Size comparison next to a 12 Inch ruler. It does stick to the magnet. They were both on top of each other they were both 22 inches deep which is 1 feet 10 inches. What type of metal are both of these objects? What are these two objects? Can anyone tell me how old are these two objects? Can anyone tell me if both of these items have markers mar on them? 20210215_210726.webp20210215_210730.webp20210215_210939.webp20210215_210947.webp20210215_210956.webp20210215_211000.webp20210215_210746.webp20210215_210735.webp

Ok, let's try this out and see if it works.

#1:
"It does stick to the magnet"
#2: "What type of metal are both of these objects?"
You just answered your own question-iron/steel-Magnet will stick it and being rusty it's sure bet it's cast iron. A magnet will stick to nickel but it would be not rusty but like dull stainless steel looking.

#3: "Can anyone tell me if both of these items have markers mar on them?"
You're asking a question that can't be answered really because of the rust on the casted pieces. The only way a member could answer you is if they had a similar piece and they found the maker's mark on theirs.
It would be better to remove the rust from the cast iron pieces with a wire brush or wire wheel on a bench grinder. Then you could see if there is something on the pieces then post up a picture of the mark to be researched.

It's good to see you posting up that you are testing it with a magnet first though.
