I found some of these last year while water detecting and I found more this year. Does anyone know what they are? My guess would be something electronic, but why am I only finding them in swimming areas. They are all a similar size so they are not a form of metal fingernail and they all have a bump in the same place on the underside and the upper edge has 2 groves on most of them.

They are not valuable or anything, I am just curious what it is I am finding.

Thanks in advance for any help, stay safe and may your coil lead you to good things.

Might they be clips to hold the antenna extensions? They appear to be what you add to keep them from pulling apart.

Thanks for the input. I’m not sure what an antenna extension is or what the clips look like so I don’t know if you are correct. The pictures I saw when I googled it were not much help. Stay safe and keep swingin, thanks again for trying.

Hello tnt-hunter Iam pretty sure grisso3 got the ID correct They are retainers that hold a telescopic antenna together so that when you pull the antenna out it doesn’t fall apart I did a Google search on telescopic antenna retainers and seen it in the third picture I also saw your post and couldn’t believe nobody has figured this one out yet but I think someone did.

I searched telescopic antenna retainers and I did see a picture of exactly what I found. So I will mark this one “solved”. I just can’t understand why I am finding so many fo these darn things in the water. I don’t see that many telescopic antennas these days and these are recent losses. And who would take an electrical item with an antenna into the water?

Thanks for the ID confirmation, stay safe and keep swingin.

I’ve found them a couple times detecting beaches. They are from stainless or chrome selfie telescoping sticks. Some of them seem to come apart when extended after a few uses.ImageUploadedByTreasureNet.com1593996620.257781.jpg

The mention of water had me wondering about telescoping fishing rods. But...Didn't find any pictures of components to confirm.
Desertexplorers post below makes sense.

I hadn’t thought of that. I have never used one myself and rarely see them used, but I can understand people using them enjoying the water. I do believe you have put the last piece in the puzzle. Thank you, stay safe and keep swingin.
