Please HELP What are these heavy metals objects?

I am literally in the middle of the woods, 15 minute walk from nearest horse trail, miles from any road. East Texas in the woods about the size of a full court basket ball area.

It is right by a natural spring, found the 3 biggest / longest items in the spring, the rest above in the ground.

I don't know what the metal pieces are used for and what might they tell me about area?
Also WHY I would find things like this in the middle of no where??? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

There are MANY more iron targets I did not dig, should I go back?
Thanks, Cindy

Since you found these by the spring, I'm guessing they are bits and parts of a pump or pump engine.

Thank you, I don't know why no one else is commenting on this post! So if it were an old pump would that tell me a house or something use to be in the middle of the woods?

old-cast-iron-pump-911.webppumphouse32.webp these are just photos I found on line, different cast iron possibilities?!?

If there was a house you'd be finding more household relics and TONS of nails. Maybe a pump shed or a fenced area for livestock? How mature are the trees?

I'd say that close to a natural spring would be an old pumphouse. That would explain some of the building materials absent the household trash.

Hi DCMatt,
These pictures will show you the general area, I didn't search the area much for relics because It was getting late and I was on my way back to the trail when I came across these things. I did come across a bunch of nails and you can see where in the photo. I plan to go back tomorrow when I can make a day of it. I should have more info and photos then. Thank you again for helping me with this. Cindy

That bar "handle" looking thing is very similar to a bottom ladder rung that you would see on a Railroad boxcar. :dontknow:

Thanks Paleopilot, (such a great name!) It seems small to me, but I am not good with things like that! My husband will say give him about 2 inches of tape and he ends up with a foot! LOL Anyhow here is a picture I found online. 6-17729_cops1.webp

Here are some photos of today's finds in that same area. I found a corroded metal pipe that went in the water from the side of the bank. IMGP9882.webp IMGP9883.webp It is hard to tell in the first photo, but this is right above the natural spring, the second photo is a chunk that is broke off and in the water.
Also more bricks and some other things I haven't photographed yet.

The metal gun shaped piece weighs about 15 pounds, it is very very.

They look like hinges and handles from a trunk or box to me. Maybe there's buried treasure about? :icon_thumleft:
