Can anyone please tell me what the heck these things are??? I found them on Doulphin Island beach next to Mobile bay, Mobile, Alabama at the end of last summer, right after the hurricanes came through that area.
They are about 3-inches by 3-inches, are they corroded pieces of silver, pieces of copper, balast from a ship???
There are numerious antient ship wrecks in the Mobile Bay area.
Any help figuring out what these are would be appreaciated.
Thanks

Very possible pieces of fragmented cannon balls, or crushed cannons. A lot of cannons were destroyed to be moved to refineries. Don't know what kind of detector you are using, or if you are hunting with a detector. Most newer detector can pretty much tell you if its ferrous or non-ferrous. Did you find the peices near the west end or east end near the fort? I am also from Mobile.

Might be pieces of armery from some wars?bomb/missel shell parts?does not look meteoric at all! maybe parts from a boat motor blade? Do they fit together any way like jig saw puzzle?in the araea you found them is there anything historical..sunken ship items or oil rigs ect...

Im with dan its just a chunk of iron could of come from anywhere!

Fort Powell, which now lies under water right off Dauphin Island was bombarded almost non stop for 3 days in 1865. In addition the CS command sunk 10 ships along a line so that the Union Navy could not close on obile without passing Fort Morgan and Fort gaines. These ships were loaded with all kind of items from ore to bricks. Union troops landed about midway from the west end of the island and attacked Fort Gaines from the west. I have 3 nice Union buttons that were found after different storms.
