I have an app on my phone for identifying plants, and it's usually pretty accurate. It says that is "Bittersweet Nightshade", and it's toxic, so no sampling.

Thanks brother,Just the color says DON'T EAT!

The nightshade family is large and has a lot of toxic species like datura, belladonna, and Jimson weed. Tobacco is a member. Also some good nightshades like potatoes, tomatoes, bell and chili peppers.

Where I grew up, it was berries white, poison in sight. All other colors were ok. Some might not taste that good, but you could eat them with no ill effects.

I thought that only referred to poison ivy. The whole rhyme I knew was "Leaves of three, let lt be. Berries white, poisonous sight" .
