I'm a little behind on posting due to being pretty sick for a couple weeks, but here's a little something I found on one of my last hunts. You all probably remember that patriotic suspender buckle that I found about a month ago. Well, I found the OTHER ONE!! It was probably about 50 yards from the first one, which was way out in the corn field below where the house used to sit. This one was found on top of the hill in the middle of the trashiest area of the site! We try to avoid that area because it's almost unhuntable because of all the trash and nails. What are the chances that I would find BOTH of them so far apart and them both being in good condition?? You can see the effects of the fertilizer on the first one compared to the second one. I can see all of the detail on the second one! There are 31 stars, which would put it around 1851. I talked to a long time treasure hunter buddy of mine who said he remembers reading something many years ago about them having been made to commemorate California becoming a state. Whether that's true or not, I have no idea. It makes sense though! Either way, I'm still in disbelief from finding them and they have become my favorite relic find so far of 2018! It's awesome to see them both together after such a long time apart in the ground. Thanks for looking and HH!
