what are odds of finding a 1964 sms penny?

Getting back interested in coins, I've been going through my dad's coin collection he gave me. It's just a small collection, 4 silver dollars, several rolls of wheat pennies, a few rolls of silver dimes and quarters. But I have 3 plastic tubes of 1964 pennies that my dad always emphasized to never touch and how they were to never be taken out of the tubes. He had gotten them specifically for some reason all in tubes at the same time(weren't collected over the years). In all probability, he may have heard in 1964 about the sms pennies and just thought to buy 3 tubes of uncirc. pennies? I don't know, just got to googling 1964 pennies trying to figure out why they are in the collection and were held in more high regard than the 3 morgan dollars. lol
Thanks in advance

I'm not saying they are the sms penny, i doubt I'd be that lucky. But one can hope. I'm just trying to figure out why he had 3 rolls of uncirc. 1964 pennies and just told me to never touch?

Jec1,
Great way to look at it and your reasoning makes sense. Glad to see you're curious but practical about the possibilities.

All the SMS were found in SMS mint sets that belonged to a deceased mint director. There are known markers on the coins. Some have sold at Heritage auctions and images there can help answer questions.

More than likely he may have been hoping to have one of the two valuable DDR's that were produced in Philly that year.
Here are some links.

Nice of your dad to save these so you could have them after he passed on. Were these the only original rolls he had? If so it's possible your dad was caught up in the "end of silver coins" hype going on at the time. (even though thee arean't silver of course)
