I had some time today so I thought I would try to find a super old cellar hole from my 1867 map that is gone by my 1905 maps. Had to run lines looking for the iron patch in big forest type terrain. After widening my search I finally stumbled across a stone wall then the iron hits started coming. When I hit a leveled spot it was iron city! My ace sounded like the slot room at Vegas! By this time I am winded by the walking & trailbreaking so I sit down for a rest and to study the lay of the land. The only signs of man are the iron hits and a few cut stones here and there and a crude springhouse outline. So I begin the hunt I still have the 14" coil on and I am 100 yards from the bike so I make the best of it even though It is iron city. within 10 minutes I have my first 1800s silver a worn seated dime and an Indian head cent! Both are less than 2" deep. But now I am short on time so I have to tear myself away from my new best site. I am happy with this dime it is my first old silver plus 2 1800s coins in a day is a first also. I will return with my sniper coil soon you can bet!

Nice first's and finds. Those seated dimes are usually worn out and thin from all of those years in circulation. However I have seen some good looking ones. I have found 1. It was worn but the date was clear.

By matching the wreath on the reverse to pictures online, you will be able to further narrow down the date range for your dime.

I think it is an early Seated Liberty.
Yes it is early the stars were only from 1838 to 1860 the last date digit is a 7 and that makes it 1847 or 57 the third digit has a rounded bottom so 1858 it is!

Very nice finds
