Didn't have high hopes when I headed out tonight, but that turned around pretty quickly. Must be a full moon.

Michigan Central Railroad Tag 052224.jpg

This was trapped under a tree root. Glad I didn't give up on it. Michigan Central Railroad. Second such tag I've found. Other was found 45 miles away a decade ago.

1914 Dog Tag 052224.jpg

Pretty sure it's a dog tax tag. Only thing that puzzles me is that it doesn't indicate a county.

Rings 052224.jpg

These two rings were found separately. The large ring is marked 18K. Obviously that's not true as the copper has come through. The smaller ring is stamped 10K. It appears to be so, but it is a terribly thin band.

Coins 052224.jpg

Lots of coins.

Oddball finds 052224.jpg

Couple oddball finds. Curious if anyone recognizes the logo on the top item. It appears to be a screw on lid.

Brass Caster 052224.jpg

And just for fun...because I don't find many of these, a large brass caster.

Today's finds...

1863 Indian head penny
1883 Indian head penny

I find more companies with similar logos/trademarks than any I've ever seen before! 😲

I'm curious how you put threads in an octagon; may we please see the flipside?

Any clue what metal it is, and whether it appears old or more contemporary?

You had yourself a super great hunt...Congrats!! Love all the interresting relics. Nice work on the IHP's and silvers too. A 1863 " fatty" would make my day.

love that assortment of saves and always like the gold. For some reason, the old dog tags really tickle me, they are some of my favorite finds, well done

Per your request. Without filing on it, my guess is that it is brass.
