Hey TTH,
I've never heard the phrase 'buffalo pennies' do you mean Indian Head? Your nickel is just that but it has been coated with something that makes it look like it is copper. You had a good hunt along with a three ringer slug that looks like a dropped one. How far down were these items? Keep swinging...............63bkpkr

Dug nickels have that corrosion in the pic. They don't do well in most soil. I've never dug one with a silver color that wasn't recently dropped and on top of the ground, in a tot lot mulch, or a war nickel that has silver content. Nice v nickel!

Man thats a good day in my book........Welcome to da net..............HH

Ok I just found this wired dime it is smaller that a real dime. Solid copper side and a bit thicker. It's a 2000 d dime any ideas????

That's called a "dryer coin", it is a coin that rolls around in a clothes dryer until it wears like that.

That or somebody started tapping that dime with a spoon around the edges. You can make rings out of them. Great finds! HH

Cool finds!!!
