I was detecting my backyard again with the 12X15 coil and got a strong signal of a quarter at 5 inches. I dug to 5 inches and found nothing. I swept the hole again and it signaled a quarter again. Realizing the coil was not going to be accurate on depth I started digging deeper. I then used my Sunray probe and it indicated a quarter 3 more inches deeper; So I dug 3 more inches and hit metal. I had to use a shovel to dig out my quarter which turned out to be a large piece of aluminum. Using the pinpointer on the metal alone the reading was a quarter. realizing the metal was quite large I understood why the signal was so strong. I measured the depth and it was 13 inches deep. This coil not only sees deep but separates targets very well because there was a long piece of what looks like it was from a hanger at about 7 inches to the side of the hole. I have aluminum ring up as a coin depending on how large it is from time to time but this signal really fooled me.

I think I can speak for the masses...

"We've been there... .done that... got the "T-SHIRT" and we are now wearing it as a RAG!"

:-)

:P That's as bad as digging a foot for a canning jar lid, MM. :D Sounds really good till you get to the depth that it's suppose to be, and it ain't. :-X Then you start wondering what could it possibly be? :icon_scratch: Curiosity usually gets the best of ya and you just gotta dig it and take a peek. :D
