Was the ground really noisy in some places?

It looks like a coal clinker. Usually when there is one there are many of them.

It is the impurities from coal that won't burn in an old coal fired furnace or stove. They drip down into a pan or a grate. Typically they were thrown out on the lawn when the stove was cleaned out. They will make your detector crazy.

I sorta see the 13 your talking about. Can't tell if it is real on not.

Hmm. Not particularly - I'd actually questioned if I was detecting in the right area. I wasn't getting many hits at all, and most I got were deep square nails.
