I hit a schoolyard that produced very well over the last month. But the finds are waning, and I am digging the "iffies" and low tones now to clear it out. Found more kiddie bling, including a sterling leaf which was probably part of an earring. The surprise of the day was a lead object that I just threw into my pouch not knowing what it was at the time. Got home and cleaned it up to learn that it is probably a CW era, hand made (from lead) nipple protector for a percussion rifle. One gent suggested it was the head of a vintage tin/lead roofing nail, but it is not machine made and taller than ones on nails that I have seen online. Any information welcomed and appreciated. Happy Hunting! Sub 8-)

Got a nice "caltrop" too :laughing7: Nice hunt!

Cool finds!
One question...I see talk of folks hunting school yards on here all the time. How does one obtain permission to search a school yard?? Board of Education, or what??

If it's a public school, I just do it......off hours of course......usually weekends. If it's a private school, you would need to get permission from whoever runs the school.

Congrats on a very productive hunt, and I would tend to agree, I think your lead item is a hand-fashioned nipple protector. Great save! Ddf.
