Westfall, Oregon $5,000 in gold coins found on Charles Becker farm

Did some more research on this, as it seemed totally unlikely.

Charles Becker is listed as an early-day pony express rider.

He had a ranch near Westfall, Oregon. Westfall may not be exactly desolate, but it isn't the center of culture either.

Assuming Coffman was correct, and likely obtained this information from a newspaper clipping, this was a HUGE cache for the timeframe.

And it just happened to be found on his ranch? I'm suspecting something else here.

"My Great-Great Grandfather Charles Becker had a ranch in westfall. He lived out his life there after he was done riding for the pony express. Married a school teacher and rode horseback to the coast for their honeymoon."
