West Texas Weapons Cache

Cpt,
I think we need to talk. I still have my trusty two-box and it should find a six-pounder cannon at considerable depth. Oh, right, you didn't mention a six-pounder did you?
When are you planning to go after this? As you can see, I am more than a little bit interested. My only problemd would be getting the time off work and working around my stupid schedule.

G.B. :
This is a modern weapons cache!
I need help because it is too large for just myself to handle!
Send me an email.... and let's see what we can come up with!

I might be able to help you, Bill. I live in Clovis, NM now but I grew up in West Texas, namely Olton, Dimmitt, Lubbock and Amarillo. Know a lot of people in the area. PM with the general location and I'll see if I know anybody around there.

Is this in the Big Bend area?
If so I know the area pretty good.

Nope!
This weapons cache is not in the Big Bend Area !
It is in Jeff Davis County !
I haven't yet done the research to see who owns the property !
I spent most of my time, until recently, running down the actual location!
I now have it located and have seen the location!
Now! I'll need to check the records to see who owns the property!
If Anyone!

Hey Partner,

You know me..... You know I am right up the street...... lets get together i am very experienced in land resources and managment and can find out who owns any property anywhere. You got my email so drop me a line this is close for both of us... Coming your way next month will call for coffee....

Hi cptbild. I live in Brownwood in central Texas, some say west central Texas, and know that some large caches of "surplus" weapons, plumbing (brass and copper), and other excess war supplies were buried in our old Camp Bowie which was a large military base during WWII. Now, portions of the Camp Bowie area of Brownwood is an industrial park but much of the land is private property. About 25 years ago, a friend who was a retired heavy-equipment operator told me of large amounts of new army surplus that was buried in the old camp. He dug many of the trenches that the materials were dumped into and then he covered them up. He is dead now but he once showed me where one of the big trenches was located. We took a two-box detector out there and it didn't take long to locate the trench that my friend had told me was full of brass and copper plumbing surplus that he buried during the war. This particular trench was on property belonging to a local business and, since I had had some problems in the past with the owner of the property I have left it alone for these many years. I had forgotten about it until I read your message and just thought I would mention it here.

Hello again, Cptbil! Seems like you are all over my old stomping grounds. When I lived in Corpus, I used to go to the "World Championship Rattlesnake Races" at Old San Patricio. Now THAT was fun - but that was in the late '70s and early '80s when just anyone could volunteer to race snakes. Seems like about the mid '80s it started to change, got commercialized, and maybe somebody got bit and sued someone, and the races started to lose their luster. I'd bet they don't even have the races anymore. I thought the fried rattlesnake tasted like a cross between chicken and fish!

When I was in grade school, we lived in Alpine, and my Dad taught at Sul Ross. I remember taking field trips to McDonald Observatory, and we also witnessed the Marfa Lights on several occasions. Has anyone come up with an explanation for those lights yet???? That was some spooky stuff. That's a neat part of Texas.

Hey there GUNNER...
Cptbil and myself are going out to that site in the spring to relieve the ground of what the army left there...Im looking foward to seeing the Marfa lights.....

gunner3160:
Heck!
As far as I know, there's NO EXPLAINTION! for the "Lights" :-\
As you know, the "Lights" have been seen way before, 100s of yrs, the white man showed up!
The Discovery Channel, even, once went out there and set up cameras, "chase vehicles", & etc ..
NO LUCK !!!
I mean, they did see and record the Lights, but never caught them!
Doc & I will be sitting up camp at the "view site" and have our cameras ready to go! ;)
Hope to catch them on "digital" !
