West end of Katy trail

This weekend my 10 year old and I are going to ride (bicycles) the western end of the Katy trail in Missouri. We're covering the 120 miles from Clinton to Sedalia to Franklin to Jeff City. Any tip on rock hunting options along the way are greatly appreciated.
