Here on the west coast particularly here in California was are desperate for some rain. The last couple of days we got a lot of it. Between the storms we had
a little break of sunshine so I decided to hunt an area I know that had some deep coins from my past experience. I've always known that a little moisture in
the ground will allow your detector to punch down about an inch or more. I hunted this area extremely slow, overlapping my sweeps, and concentrating on the
deep high tone sounds. I then dug a Lincoln memorial cent at 8 inches! Most all the surface targets were removed by myself last year ( 1" to 5"), all that was left
were the targets in the 6 to 8 inch range. A perfect signal at 6 inches turned out to be a 1943-S silver quarter! About 20 minutes later another perfect high tone
signal at 7 inches is dug out, it's a 1940 Merc! I spent another 2 hours sweeping the same area concentrating on the deep targets and managed a few wheats and some deep clad coins. it was a great hunt, 2 silvers are hard to do!
