Yes, my Mich town has prob 25+ banks, only 2 that I know of have counting machines. IMO, coins are better circulated thru bought rolls, at least by myself, I use them to but gas, fast food, etc. And yes, alot o dumped rolls bought, but there's always the chance of finding 40% coin, as some CRHers are not aware of post '64 silver content.

Heh heh heh, Welcome to Michigan, land of the "those coin counting machines are way too expensive to own or maintain" mentality. You would not believe how many times I have heard that story. I have asked all around the state's capital, Lansing, and have not as of yet found one bank with an accessible coin machine.

None of these financial institutions here realizes how many people would bring in their loose change that has been hidden away for years if they had a fee-less place to take it. Hmm maybe Coinstar has a lock on things. It seems you cannot shake a stick without hitting a Coinstar machine. Yeah, that's it, it's the Coinstar conspiracy :tard: (puts on tinfoil hat)

At my CU, members less than "5 star" are charged fees, and that may offset machine cost. That also means that non-members can use this machine for less than coinstars in supermarkets, etc....I would think that over time they could possibly pay for themselves. AMC
