We're baaaaaaack! a 4 & 4 day of Oldies

Was out for the day with Ironhorse, and in typical fashion he dug the one button I wanted from this particular site while walking across the field to get to the site! And I thought for a moment I was the one who was rocking by digging a military for my first target... guess not. It was a good day as it's not very often I find 4 early military butons and 4 coins, just to bad the ground chewed them up pretty good before spitting them out. The neck stop clasp and jews harp are cool, and a little better than normal because there's little doubt it was soldiers who lost them.

The coins are...

1760 George II Hibernia
George III Hibernia (1766 or 1769)
George II Farthing (1730-1739)
Canada Large Cent (Queen Victoria)

Nice coins IP. I can't make out the pewter buttons. What are they?

Can you give us a bit more info on the buttons? Awesome hunt, bros!

Is that an Irish copper? (The 1760 one)

Sorry. I was so blinded by that button on the bottom that I missed your coin description. :laughing7::notworthy:

All locals here, so not really anything most on here would know.... even if you could see them! :)

Real nice digs IP , the one button has some great detail on it CONGRATS

Now that's a pretty good day when the first target is military, everything is just bonus after that!

I damn near gave up on it too. It was the brass military, just a cuff, and was at least 10" deep. When I cut a deep plug the signal was gone, and after two shovel fulls out of the hole I thought there wasn't really a chance it was deeper from the signal I heard... but it was!

Incredible day. I dream of days like that.

Nice! Will that SJP button clean up?

I bet I know what IH dug...

I used the peroxide first just to see what I was dealing with, and what I'm dealing with is a button that would get toasted by the lemon... so this is as good as she will get. Maybe not toasted, but would definitely lose detail and eye appeal.

To me that is a great hunt...first target a military and one I would love to have...yes you are back...easy to see with your previous post....

Back and pounding the oldies from the dirt!

It was sure nice to hit some of those good old sites we used to find some awesome finds at, and to find that they are still holding some great old relics for us today! Your coins and relics look great, and the roll your on just keeps rolling!

Next time we get out we should have some good stuff to show, I got a good feeling about hitting some more old sites!

I'll post up my finds tomorrow and fill you in on a pleasant surprise I got when I looked in my pouch when I got home

Good looking button, nothing wrong with the coppers either. A "neck stop clasp"...learned something new.

Great hunt, bad soil definitely sucks.

Those are really great finds IP. The button is fantastic!

What is the item to the far left in the first picture? It has a piece bent over on the left and what looks to be a hole in it.
It kind of reminds me of something I found awhile back but I have no idea what it is and passed it off for junk.

I'd say fishing weight. Where I found the lead seems like it was likely just a little fishing cabin on the water. Not much there but coins and lead. (Was not at the same site as the buttons)
