Went To the High School, Not A Good Day For A Hunt

Went up to the HS for a few hours to hunt but places I hunted had some really hard grass and dirt to try to dig in to which took a lot of time and hurt like heck to do. I think it could be the lack of rain we've been having here :(

Also I was getting so many signals in places it was hard to latch on to a viable target.

I only found a handful of pennies and one mangled dime and other junk.

I don't know what to do about the grass or the signals, they were both driving me batty!

It was also very windy, despite the sun being out, and that made it uncomfortable to hunt to :P

Sonja Marie, don't give up on the school. I went to the oldest school in town today just to kill a little time, about an hours worth. This school use to be the highschool and middle school combined when I attended back in the 50's and 60's. Now it's just 9th grade! I put on my 4" coil and just hunted a strip about 30' long and 4' wide just beneath the first floor windows on one side of the school. In that short time I recovered a quarter, four dimes, a nickel and ten pennies, all clad. I know there is some silver there also, probably deeper than the typical 4" depth I found today. I plan to hit this area again several times over and perhaps pick up all the clad on top leaving the deeper stuff to show up later. Although much of the schoolgrounds have been concreted, those little strips beneath the windows should be very productive. The 4" coil really helps me seperate out the different tones. Try it!

Hey SonjaMarie! I often have outings like that. It just goes with the hobby. Just remember that it's a lot better to be out there trying to detect than it is to be home stuck in front of the TV eating junk food. I took my dad & drove to Baker City today to attend a small gun & antique show. It is 150 miles each way. When we got there the show was very small & mostly junk, no goodies. It only took us 15 minutes to walk clear through the whole show TWICE. Then we had to turn around & drive 150 miles back home. At least I had a nice day out with my dad. Spotz

Sonja i don`t have much luck at high schools , but if you want to have fun go to a middle school and md playgrounds . around here i think coins were planted , then dirt was placed over . !!! must be lunch money ! found 14 quarters in one spot once . none old , but clad spends nicely ! ;D
