Metal Detecting
After a very hot summer the weather finally was cool enough to think about detecting. I hauled the camper over to one of my private permissions and spent 5 days detecting at the old fort site. I've heard the soldiers in the IW campaigns didn't like shoulder scales since they were mainly for mitigation of mounted saber strikes and the Indians didn't use sabers. In addition they had to be polished for inspection and a lot of them were intentionally discarded. I don't know if that's a fact, but given the amount of scale pieces I find I think it has some merit. The only out of the ordinary finds this time were some sutler's tokens; three for 50 cents and one for 25. I gave one of the 50 cents tokens to the land owner. Now it's time to choose the better pieces and get them ready for my display case. Thanks for looking!
