Hello All, I have been reading alot of your posts recently, & enjoy all the treasure tales. I went to a small park yesterday, about 100 yards square, & was expecting to find some old finds myself. All around me were homes from the 1850's - 1870's & later. When I started detecting, I had all the thoughts of finding old coins & relics.

Well, as the day went on, I kept on finding coins, but nothing that old. I was digging up to 5" deep for all the finds. I am going to try & post a pic(I can't see it in preview yet), & as you can see there are a few new coins as well. I found these pretty much under a layer of dead grass just starting to get buried. I did find one spot where I found a nickel & 10 pennies in one hole, that was kinda neat.

Overall, it was a fun day. even though I didn't find anything old, I did find 30 quarters, & 19 dimes. I found out that the park was built about 15 years ago, but I still thought there may have been something old out their being so close to those old homes.

Hey Don

Great finds !!!

They probably poured fresh soil from somewhere else when they built the park....What was there before it became a park ?

Prior to that, the mature neighbors say it was just an overgrown field. It makes sense with the adding of dirt for the area of the park, didn't think of that...

30Q and 19D Wow it sounds like to me that you may be the only MDer in that hood.
You just dug gas for the trip and a cold drink for the ride home....

Great finds...

I believe I had to be the only person to detect here, there were alot of multiple coins in the same hole. It was by far the best ratio of larger demonition coins versus pennies I found.
