At least, I don't think I'll be going back out this year. ;)

On a semi-serious note, this year has been one of my most interesting.
I've hunted now for almost half a century but this one stands out!

Not just the finds but everything about this year's walks and all the fun
people on here, with which to share the excitement we feel.

I couldn't have asked for anything better. And it finished with a wonderfully
classic flair. No, I didn't get rich, (with money/value), but the types of finds
I finished up on were just soooooo fitting! :)

I know you all will be reading this with a hangover, next year, so, I'll try to keep it short.

Here's the finds:

Just WHAT sort of things are they teaching
them at school nowadays!?!? ;)

2016 (807).jpg

Soooo THAT'S what one of those No Value tokens
looks like new! LOL

2016 (808).jpg

No, I didn't just pull a model car off my shelf to show it
here on the last day of the year. I also, didn't just pull this
from under some Christmas tree. It ALSO, was NOT just sitting
on top of the ground! TRUTH!

I actually had to dig this up! It was completely buried and looked
like it had been there a while! The whole inside was full of dirt!
Sounded like a buried cannonball! LOL

The neatest thing about this is that I'd just announced, out loud, that I was
OTWBTTC. Was just going to pass thru the tot-lot on the way
today. (kind of cold out there!) And this turns up!?!? LOLOL Good one, Lord! :)

So, I got back to the car and it was still pretty light out. It was the last day
of a good year. But, I wasn't ready to call it yet. So, I asked the Lord if I might
just have one more keeper? You know, a sort of last find of the year? Nothing had
come up for the last half hour or so and I just wanted to go out on a good note.

I didn't care if it was just another zincoln. Just something, anything, that I normally
keep. Look what HE had me finish the year on:

So ends another walking season. It's been a special
one for me. Officially, 40 years. What a way to finish!

Thanks for all the peeking and responses folks!
It's been a fun year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Thanks guys. It makes me happy to know that the work I put into the posts are appreciated and serve some small purpose. It just seems like turnabout is fair play. I get a LOT from reading all the posts here. Just wanted to give some back.

Happy New Year!

A very nice hunt! :occasion14:

I love reading your posts!

I'm asking HIM to give me my first silver coin this year (preferably this month):laughing7:.

Great way to end it. Look forward to your comeing year. Good luck Bud!

No hang over for me Whadi. I could have read your post all day ( except for the 3 hours I was out detecting myself on New Years Day ) ! Happy New Year to you Fishy and Blingie also.

Nothing like the direct approach. But, I'll tell you a lil secret. I've found it to work much better, if I just ask that HE leads me over what HE wants me to find that day. Then, get ready to accept ANYthing he gives you interest in digging. Ask for help in discerning too, that always helps me because I find that I keep getting in HIS way. :) You see, we ask for something we think we want, all the while, HE had MUCH bigger plans for us but HE'll give us our way.

Even junk can have a purpose! Some of my finest finds this year came after HE caused a course change in my walking by having me dig a piece of canslaw. :)

By the by....experts? What exactly is that Eagle piece? I know it's general use, but it seems a bit big to be a button. :dontknow:

WHADIFIND, heck with all those quarters you dug in 2016,you should be able to buy a real running car of that year,

A great wrap up to the year, Whadifind! I look forward to your 2017 adventures! I think your eagle piece is a US Army Chiefs of Staff lapel pin, but not sure of the age. The stars, gathered in the star shape above the eagles head is the traditional Chiefs of Staff mark. Not the same thing, but here is a modern, color version of the medal awarded for serving under the COS in the Pentagon.

Congratulations on an outstanding exhibition of what can be found while taking a walk. You remind me of what it was like back in the day when everything we recovered was Treasure.
Wishing you the best in 2017

Now....THAT....is a REALLY interesting slant on this piece! Thanks!
I just don't know my militaria very well. So, it seems that it was more than I thought!
I was just thinking a hat badge or something.

Neat!

Still could be an unofficial civilian replica of some sort, but the star pattern at the top indicates Army General (as in rank) Staff insignia. Nice find regardless.

Congrats on another fun hunt Whadi. :occasion14: I like to find military items when I hunt, haven't found many, but I enjoy pulling them and then doing the research to better understand them/
