opps ones not a lost lakelost2 002.JPG

Which ones are you thinking are lost lakes?

the top too,worn out though

So what is the drilled one above the point in the 1st pic? It looks oval

Rite next to a bigger rock

not sure rock, hoping it was nothing,i sure these two were lost lakes i could be wrong but we find them on a lost lake sitelost lake 001.JPGlost lake 002.JPG

Great looking Points Jamey, but none of them are Lost Lakes. Lost Lakes become heavily beveled as they are resharpened and by the time they get that small most are discarded or made into Hafted Scrapers. The one on the top left in the 1st picture looks to be a Jacks Reef and the right one looks like a Kirk Corner Notch.

If you go back and find its a drilled bead you should give it to me :laughing7:

thanks steve, you know im not to good at id'ing them but thought the ones who made lost lakes made them, found on same sitelost 2 001.JPGlost 2 002.JPG

Still killer finds whatever they are. Im always wrong but hey its worth trying

what about the gray one, made like a lost lake but very little missing at the breakgrey lost lake 001.JPGgrey lost lake 002.JPGgrey lost lake 003.JPG

Kirk Corner Notch Points are around the same age as Lost Lakes, but Jacks Reef Points are Woodland and a few thousand years later.

only thing i found today was this scraper.halfted 001.JPGhalfted 002.JPG

Do you own any artifact books? If not you should look into buying some.

Sun Circles and Human Hands is a good one and there are several other nice ones. Not sure what area you are from but Robert Converse has some great books on Ohio pieces.

thanks Steve,i do not thank there is any hope for me,TNMountains gave me sun circles,i have many more but i just can not get it.too many different points in Tenn.

That's why I usually say Archaic Side Notch instead of trying to determine between Big Sandy, Osceola, Godar, etc. Too many names for Points that look very similar.

Here is a jacks reef 60 miles from you. They sure are confusing. We called ths the sunfish style. I get them mixed up too!
