Well now I'm hooked
I've always had a curiosity about metal detecting, but I think it was that damn infectious good cheer and quest for discovery from the guys on "Diggers" that finally convinced me to take up the hobby. I went with the ACE 350 and bought it along on our annual trip to North Carolina's Outer Banks. I spent the week learning my new machine and searching the beaches between Duck and Corolla with visions of Blackbeard's treasure, Spanish coins and ancient ship relics dancing in my head. No gold or silver was found and I discovered that there's lots of sharp pointy things at the beach. Glad I was wearing surf shoes. The Chinese knockoff Matchbox car is the obvious treasure. I read a few forums from some local MDer's down there and they said the cars are legendary on OBX. Supposedly a bunch of containers fell off a ship in the early '70's and the cars have been washing ashore ever since. And it's and American muscle car which makes it even cooler! Anyhoo, my quest for adventure and treasure continues because let's face it, after a week searching the shoreline adjacent to The Graveyard of the Atlantic this new "hobby" of mine has just become a full fledge obsession. Happy detecting guys !
