but on the brighter side i left the fish filled field and went to a better spot in the woods and found this.i think it is an Adena notched base. jamey

Good finds, jamey! That Adena point is great!!!
We're still waiting for the creeks to go down so we can look the gravel bars.

nice finds jamey, maybe that's a broken celt bit? I like that red jasper like material. There are artifact rich fields everywhere, all it takes is research, landowner permission , and lots of walking, and good eyes is very important. I wouldn't give up on field hunting yet, who knows your field in wv might be full of stuff.

thanks sandcreek,i can see why that is one of his favorites, your very lucky i may add.37 I'm still working on a time frame for us to hunt it.its going to be overgrown because no one has been on it in years.i hope theres lots for us to find as i invited a few to join us.its up wertz ave off of kanawaha blvd, which runs beside the river. jamey

Yay ! Jamey is back hunting killer artifacts. Man our rivers are overflowing here to. That Adena looks like Chert?? Dont forget you are invited to a river hunt over the mtn this summer. Get you in some shell mounds to play. Great post Jamey. We had rain all day today. I did a small post on a small hunt. :icon_jokercolor:

thanks tn mountains, pickaway. you no i think it is a heavy patina on it.i found it on a hill that had alot of big flat rocks on it.i could picture them sitting there holding a town meeting.look at this piece of rock,it has some gray in it,but the same color as my point.pines were all around it,wonder if they are the reason for the patina. jamey

Ahhhh haaaa so now you are wandering around in fields off your river huh?? Not a bad idea.Looks like you are starting to find some stuff. I did not see a flute but it was hard to tell.Knowing you,you will find a big old pile of fluted points walking home :icon_sunny:
