My first post here..been researching and working out where to find me a meteorite. I'm marking locations on Google Earth and whenever I will have occasion to travel close to one of those spots..well I expect to try to get me one.

Oh..my first..well it was maybe a little too easy. I won it as a consolation prize on YouTube. The winner got the 53.7 gm. He made about 300 guesses. Ruben noticed I got the closest of anyone making only a single guess: 53 gm. So I won the 28+ gm. Needless to say I am pretty excited. I'll be able to check out how my detector (Fisher F4) reacts...and how my homemade magnet cane works.

Regards and HH to all, Joe

Here's a photo of the lil beauty. Notice the negative image kind of amazing huh?

looks like i found my first. It was a stormy day in central Texas and we were down for the day. My partner was taking a nap and
in between storms I took my magnet and was walking around the camp site. I saw nothing visual except for some dark rocks which had no
magnetic properties. As I was returning to the campsite I stuck my magnet into some water filled potholes at the camping area
and to my suprise I got a hit. It was a strong hit, and after extracting it from the water I took it back to the tent where I dried it off
and then gave it some of the test that one can preform in the field. Yes, it was very magnetic, and after the nickle test it indeed showed
that there was nickle present, I am now taking it to Trinity University geology department for final analise. It is a beauty and weighs in
at 24 grams. No telling how long it has been in the road as this was found 14 months after the Ash Creek fall.

Nice meteorite Joe, how's that F4 working out for meteorite hunting? I would like to get one, but everyone,
including Rubin, say to use gold MD's.
